From 2000 to 2017, the number of suicides and drug overdoses in the U.S. doubled, and opioids are a key contributor to that jump, according to a new review and analysis by University of Michigan researchers.
Reversing this deadly double trend will take investment in programs that have been proven to prevent and treat opioid addiction, the authors of the study said.
