Joint Bank Accounts May Be Key to Spending More Responsibly

A new study has found that people who use money from a joint bank account are less likely to make purchases for pleasure.

That’s because they feel the need to justify the expense to their partners, according to researchers at the University of Notre Dame.

That leads couples who pool their finances to favor utilitarian purchases that are easier to justify, the researchers note.
